Discover Original Art has been busy adding new artists from around the world while adding more artwork from current artists! We are committed to bringing fine, authentic, original art to collectors and those afficionados who are starting to collect.

Discover Original Art is able to present artists from around the world and we are proud to present two of our new artists.

Avril Ward is an established fine artist, living and working in the Cayman Islands, born in Scotland, raised in South Africa but has now made Grand Cayman her home.

Avril's work changes and evolves as she is always interested in exploring new avenues in her art. Skilled in oils, acrylic, charcoal, mixed media and clay, she usually works in series of a particular medium and themes. Her appreciation of the environment, her observation of the obscure, her spirituality and her good sense of humour is all evident in her paintings. Her power lies in her rendition of simply daily images we often take for granted.

"I create because I must! It has become an intricately woven part of my life. There is no separation possible now; if I had to stop it would feel like one of my limbs was lost," she has stated.

Her recent return to sculpture, after a 17 year gap, has seen her spirituality expressed. In poignant elongated figures the delicate nature of humanity is skillfully revealed. Avril sculpts in clay, and casts her works in limited edition bronze.

Avril has participated in many group exhibitions and has had solo exhibitions in the Grand Caymans and South Africa.

Josien Vos was born in the Dutch village Zevenbergen. After graduating high school she wanted to go to art school, but was rejected because she was too young. After a teachers training and several years in education, she made the switch to the arts.

was born in the Dutch village Zevenbergen. After graduating high school she wanted to go to art school, but was rejected because she was too young. After a teachers training and several years in education, she made the switch to the arts.

From 1987 to 1993 she made a living as a rockphotographer. Her pictures received several awards and were published in music magazines around the world and on record/cd covers. After focusing on digital imaging and multimedia production for a while she returned to photography in 2002. Late 2005 Josien took her first steps into the artworld with a series of abstracted macro photographs of flowers.

At present Josien mainly focuses on further developing her artistic talents in the shape of mixed media art wherein all experience and skills in photography, digital imaging, digital printing, drawing and painting are brought together with alternative materials and printing techniques.

Josien is says that she is "Inspired by the human psyche, nature, cosmic processes, the spiritual and occult, voice is given to inner awareness, the whimsicality and stratification of life, the beauty of imperfection, the value of detail, mood and often strong emotions are being expressed. All in a unique personal style that wanders around in the twilight zone between abstraction, expressionism, realism, surrealism, magic realism and spiritualism."

Collecting art is exciting and fun and a great place to start is by visiting http://www.discoveroriginalart.com to view the artwork of these artists and to browse the gallery to discover and collect your favorite.

Thomas Keller, Artist, Joins Discover Original Art - Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Angel of Egypt      Thomas Keller                                                Angel of Egypt

Artist Thomas Keller  began creating art as the result of an spiritual awakening in 2001. Prior to that time he was a construction contractor and has continued to be so. When he began painting he felt like a river of creativity was flooding through him and had to be released.

Thomas Keller's paintings are mostly pastels, a medium he was drawn to naturally. Thousands of crystals of pure color comprise pastels so a painting is a crystal field reflecting light.

He then was drawn to free sculpt wood and since moving to Atlanta, Ga., a city carved out of an ancient forest, He again felt compelled to release this river of creativity. Wood is a very feminine medium with it's continuous grain curves and inherent strength.

Thomas has wonderful sculptures that are graceful at Discover Original Art.

Beata Belansky Demko, New Artist - Saturday, January 02, 2010

In Dreamland

Beata Belansky Demko Joins Discover Original Art

Discover Original Art welcomes artists Beata Belansky Demko, an artist who resides in Hungary.  We are impressed with the texture and depth of her paintings.  In Dreamland, pictured here, is a deeply introspective piece.

Beata writes about herself and her art:  "I am a self-taught artist living as a wife and mom with my little family. In the last year I’ve spent all my spare time painting my emotions, my experiences, my feelings.

One thing drives me, to live the inner silence. Greater silence or peace - before taking a paintbrush - I had never experienced. So my paintings can be considered as byproducts of seeking my inner peace. I have no intention with my paintings. I don't want to make other people happy, change the world or create something beautiful and good. I just want to find myself... inside.

The amazing thing is that this happens many times. I don't say that every time I paint I get into a meditative state. Neither do I say that the miracle happens every time. But it happens often enough to take my paintbrushes again and again and lose myself in my inner world. Who already experienced this knows that you can become dependent upon it and chase this tingly inner peace almost obsessively, this nothing that you can find inside. If during my seeking something for myself an appeal to others is created , it is a double pleasure for me. These times I sell them with pleasure."

Please check out Beata's art at DiscoverOriginalArt.

Constantine has participated in numerous exhibitions of art in Ukraine, Hungary, and Croatia.  His main theme is still life as a beauty of things which tells us about our past.  The combination of perfect technique and philosophical thoughts and moods make his paintings unforgettable.

Rony's work has a style that is very individual.  She has had many exhibitions and is represented in private collections all over the world.

DiscoverOriginalArt.com is proud to represent these world-renowned artists.

Buying and Selling Original Art - Monday, August 17, 2009

Who:  Brian Wiltshire and Susan Taylor, Residents of Tierra Verde and St. Petersburg, Florida

What:  New Business:  Online Art Gallery: Discover Original Art

website:  http://www.discoveroriginalart.com

Starting a business in this economy may seem to be risky but Brian Wiltshire (Tierra Verde) and Susan Taylor (St. Petersburg) , both art connoisseurs and collectors, have confidence that people still love and appreciate fine art and want to be able to collect affordable original art and photographs.  Discover Original Art is an online art business they started first to represent several good friends who are exceptional artists being successful within their geographical areas, even with their own artist websites, but lacking global visibility.  Out of that grew the idea to start the online art gallery.

Discover Original Art is dedicated to being the link, via the internet, between artists and art collectors.  The goal is to broaden the opportunity for artists to sell original art; and for potential collectors, seeking exceptional art, to add original works of art to their personal galleries. We can link to the artist websites if neccessary.

The site is easy to maneuver and the collector can view paintings and photographs and can easily order a beautiful piece of art.  The art works may be rendered in many different media, dimensions and price ranges. No longer does the collector have to go to many galleries but can select art from the comfort of home or office.   The artist can show art in an online gallery without the hassles of transporting artwork to one site.  And there is the convenience of being on the worldwide web!

Hoping to have the gallery online by April 2, the two partners soon found how complicated a good website that is secure yet accessible is to design.  But they persevered and the site is now up and running!  They are proud that their site is different.  “We wanted people to arrive at the site and feel as if they were entering a real gallery so we used a gallery store front as the home page.”

Local and national artists have registered and more artists are being added weekly.  The partners encourage everyone to check their website frequently for updates, blogs, and additional artists and artwork.
