Rony Shubich wishes to use her art as a tool to better display the reality of people and objects—to whisk away the many masks that we wear.
Rony grew up in a world full of art. Her father, architect and painter, guided her as she began to express herself artistically and often painted with her later on; Mexico provided the colorful, complicated background and people that spread across her canvasses. Her mother, a literature teacher, has described her work… "They protest the dis-illusions of growing up in a complicated, overwhelming city like México City. They reflect the colors of the arts and crafts of the Mexican culture. They echo the shouts of children on the streets. They whisper the hidden sadness of our secret selves disguised as the clowns that made us smile when we were growing up.”
Early on, Rony’s art carried with it a style that was very individual. As the years passed, the ‘music’ that often formed part of her artistic scenarios came to the fore and evidently, sought a more dominant expression. She ventured into sculpture and eventually her paintings became ‘sculptings’ as she combined painting and sculpture in themes focused on music. Once again she established a very defined ‘voice,' as her search to express what she sees and feels continues to give life to her art.
Rony studied art formally at “La Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado “La Esmeralda”, graduating in 1996. She has exhibited her work in the Mexico City Art Gardens for many years and participated in numerous individual and collective exhibitions in Mexico, Atlanta, Naples, Tuscon, Lawrenceville, New Orleans, and St. Petersburg.
