Since 1996 Joice Marie has been working full time as a Graphic Designer and Producer of artwork for hire in the textile industry. She has also been a hand decorative painter and sign painter for the same company. Also many independent comission projects, including a few mural projects were executed in her career to date making almost 20 years of working in the Commercial Art Field. One important work is a mural of the Cornish, NH original US Post Office located in a rural home. The mural today is still on displayed at the Current US Postal Office location on US Route 120 in NH. She has been a resident there since 1979.
This past spring Joice Marie personally funded her trip to the Everglades National Park spending a month to return to her life work as a "Plein Air" painter of the natural landscapes, where many works will become the source for further artistic exploration. The water colors and pastels she created there will be part of a larger body of work, to be shown as a collection in 2011 an 2012. There will also be prints offered for sale of some of these works, a musical cd, and a photographic documentary of her stay in addition to the original paintings. Stay tuned for dates and details.
The earlier works shown here are from a time frame where the New England Coastline was a big focus and a regular subject of inspiration. Seascapes are also a recurring theme in her work but all of the natural world is an open inspiration for her painting.
Her return to landscape and Fine Art Painting in spring of 2010 coincides with a concurrent push to combine a painterly lifestyle along with musical perfomance endeavers. Joice Marie has been writing songs, recording and performing on a small local scale. These two artforms create a balance and an enhanced spirital connection for her and nature. Joice continues to work in many mediums, usually dictated by the subjects and circumstance. She plans a return visit to the Everglades National Park in 2011 to do more painting and recording on location. As a keen observer of nature and deatails there will be more of a bird's eye view coming in the work to follow as this is the begining of a Very exciting decade for Joice Marie and her painting.
