Dizzy's Horn
JEB036 -
John Birks Gillespie, Dizzy, American jazz trumpet player, bandleader, singer, and composer who was dubbed the “sound of surprise.” Gillespie's image is almost inseparable from his trademark trumpet, whose bell bends upward at a 45-degree angle rather than pointing straight ahead as in the conventional design. The painting is a tribute to his music and the trademark trumpet.
Jerry Blank’s current theme in his world premiere historical tribute series The Art of Music captures the movement and sounds of the vibrating beats and rhythms of America and its music greats throughout the decades in jazz, rock and country, in vibrant colors and bold strokes and with all that jazz! . His art also finds inspiration in the French Impressionist movement and a recent year-long sabbatical in Paris prolifically yielded over fifty paintings of old world and European inspirations.
