Me at the Circus
AM005 - Self portrait of artist at circus.
This original piece was exhibited at the Tampa Museum of Art along with 3 other original art works of mine. This was also used as the promotional image for all of the posters and marketing for the exhibition. It's a self portrait of myself at the circus. Rather than being a spectator, I saw myself as one of the monkeys, in the circus. This series is constructed in a raw fashion. The artwork is so honest and I didn't want formal frames on them so I built boxes from wood and used large bolts to fasten them together. Then pouring resin over the top sealed the work. In tune with how the art was made, I was intentionally showing a lack of formality and politeness and exposing the process of construction.
