Washington Square Park
VA 007 - Vincent Arcilesi has captured the tone and feeling of Washington Square Park; considered to be the most famous park in New York, a cultural center, and meeting place. The vibrancy of the people, different cultures, the arts, passion, are depicted in this original painting that is oil on canvas. These are all set with the backdrop of the monument and the fountain in the background. The figures in the background seem to be going about their daily lives while the figures in the foreground explode with life.
Vincent Arcilesi’s work reflects his two great passions: the human figure and the landscape. He studied Bauhaus design, painting, and lithography. His interest in figure painting was sparked by graduate school study with Louis R. Ritman at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. While there he also fell under the spell of the great French Impressionist paintings in their collection. and Contemporary Art in Verona, Italy. In his most recent solo shows his sensual clothed and unclothed figures appear in the landscapes and cityscapes of Morocco, Paris, London, St. Petersburg, Russia, and Mexico City.
