Summer Day at Agrigento
VA 005 - OriginalOil on Canvas.
Passion is in the foreground of this original art. Two figures embracing provocatively while a woman in white, almost from another era, leans against a tree as another figure in a sarong holds a flower. The background is the famous Greek temple of Concordia in Agrigento. The temple appears to be complete with its perfect ratios and its traditional six columns in front. A mythical backdrop for the drama of life.
Vincent Arcilesi’s work reflects his two great passions: the human figure and the landscape. He studied Bauhaus design, painting, and lithography. His interest in figure painting was sparked by graduate school study with Louis R. Ritman at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. While there he also fell under the spell of the great French Impressionist paintings in their collection. and Contemporary Art in Verona, Italy. In his most recent solo shows his sensual clothed and unclothed figures appear in the landscapes and cityscapes of Morocco, Paris, London, St. Petersburg, Russia, and Mexico City.
