Josien Vos was born in the Dutch village Zevenbergen. After graduating high school she wanted to go to art school, but was rejected because she was too young. After a teachers training and several years in education, she made the switch to the arts.
From 1987 to 1993 she made a living as a rockphotographer. Her pictures received several awards and were published in music magazines around the world and on record/cd covers. After focusing on digital imaging and multimedia production for a while she returned to photography in 2002. Late 2005 Josien took her first steps into the art world with a series of abstracted macro photographs of flowers. ...

The thing had some heft to it when held in the hand. Every knob or latch, when manipulated had that crisp, mechanical feel and sound and it produced an image just as precise. But that was roughly 30 years ago. It was a Minolta 35mm SLR. It was a prized possession and an outlet for my creative instincts. I had barely mastered the basics of film photography when the digital age arrived. Uncharted waters, but not for long. What an opportunity, once realized. A boon to anyone with an urge to experiment and a budget that didn’t include endless rolls of film, developing or a darkroom. In the end the basics remained the same. Glorious Days and Nights: A Jazz Memoir, by Herb Snitzer, one of our fabulous photographers, is being published this year! The book will contain 80 jazz photographs and text about Herb living and working in the jazz world during the "Golden Age of Jazz." Music, social, and racial issues are addressed. There are highlights of many famous music personalities such as Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, Duke Ellington, Leonard Bernstein and more! Herb is a fascinating person with wonderful and colorful stories.
