Josien Vos was born in the Dutch village Zevenbergen. After graduating high school she wanted to go to art school, but was rejected because she was too young.  After a teachers training and several years in education, she made the switch to the arts. From 1987 to 1993 she made a living as a rockphotographer. Her pictures received several awards and were published in music magazines around the world and on record/cd covers. After focusing on digital imaging and multimedia production for a while she returned to photography in 2002. Late 2005 Josien took her first steps into the art world with a series of abstracted macro photographs of flowers. ...

Patricia Abramovich is a unique and innovative painter. For Patricia, art is the freedom to create with no boundaries and to express the diversity of colors from which the human soul is composed. Spreading color across a canvas is her meditation. She applies color with spatulas and knives to achieve a thick layer of color with texture and depth. Her work is filled with energy and beauty.

Déjà Vu: Retrospection of the Life and Work of Jack Barrett

By Administrator Account on 11/7/2010 12:33 PM
Yesterday, Louise Barrett, Jack’s widow, held a retrospective of Jack’s work and life.  Louise has turned Jack’s old studio into a beautiful and elegant gallery that displays his works.  Jack’s easel is set up and waiting for him.  An old pair of jeans and work shoes are behind the easel indicating that he has just stepped out.

Jack Barrett’s art work is energetic and colorful.  Pieces line the walls of the gallery and Louise changes the artwork with ones she has brought from her home.  Special designer bins hold watercolors and sketches just waiting for perusal.   Jack’s spirit lives in his art and his works will delight and captivate you.

The reception was a great success.

Jack’s works can be viewed and collected in the gallery and at Discover Original Art.  http://www.discoveroriginalart.com/

Original Art in Artist’s Home: Thomas Brunger

By Administrator Account on 11/2/2010 1:08 PM
It is November.  not a “damp drizzly November” as pictured by Herman Melville in Moby Dick.  Instead, November has started as a warm fall day in Florida.  So why am I going to Pittsburgh where the weather will be damp and drizzly?  Ahhhh…..to see friends.

There is nothing like visiting my friend, Thomas Brunger, whose house is packed with wonderful art.  Thomas has been an artist his whole life.  It is his passion.  And he has friends who are artists. The walls of his house have beautiful paintings and sculpture. There is sculpture on tables.  There is art in every room---all original and authentic art---tastefully displayed.  There is art in the garden.  The art adds a vibrancy.  It adds life.

So I hope to video rooms in Thomas’s house.  Discover Original Art already has a video of Thomas in his studio.  I hope to bring you a glimpse of his home surroundings.  So stay tuned and I hope to share the video when I return.

Anita Dallar is a visual artist whose  inspiration is drawn from life experiences.  Her creative work becomes an extraordinary journey revealing a visual counterpart to the invisible and often illusive world of thoughts and emotions. She reflects on experiences, relates these to history and intuition, and then uses visual imagery to illustrate these concepts. Symbolism, color and movement are integral parts of her work. She uses historical and contemporary symbols relating to the...

The Home of the Artist

By Administrator Account on 9/7/2010 12:06 PM

Have you ever visited an artist’s home?  Walked around it?  Absorbed its tones and feelings?

My friends who are artists have creative spaces!  Even if they have studios where they create, they are always dreaming, painting, sculpting in their thoughts and lives.

Usually every available space in the house is for display—sometimes to the dismay of any family member who is a neatnik.   You see the pieces the artists love and do not really want to sell.  Pieces that are close to them.  Pieces that have meaning.  Pieces of beauty.

Those of us who love art and collect it are truly fortunate.

Add to your good fortune.  Go to http://www.discoveroriginalart.com/ today and start or add to your collection.
