Medea Blue
Jon Vlahos, new artist to Discover Original Art is inspired by Greece and Mythology and has taken the stories and images of the ancient Greeks to new visual heights! Jon has captured Medea’s essence in the painting Medea Blue. Medea fell in love with Jason; had Jason perform tasks such as getting the golden fleece; married Jason only to be betrayed by him in typical Greek tragedy fashion! Jon’s painting captures her swirling emotions.

Partner Brian and I had an opportunity and honor of visiting with Jack Barrett’s widow at Jack’s studio in St. Petersburg, Florida. Louise led us through his many works and also told us fascinating stories about Jack’s life.
Jack artwork is fantastic and diverse. He shows a love of observing people and once said, “I love to draw people because that is where the soul resides.”
Check out some of Jack’s work that is for sale at DiscoverOriginalArt.com/

Giacometti's sculpture set a record sale at Sotheby's and for public auction as the sculpture sold to an anonymous buyer, who bid over the phone, for .......$104,327,006. The buyer (and competitive bidders) consider the offering to be a once in a lifetime opportunity! Giacometti, who lived 1901 to 1966, was a key player in surrealism and son of the painter Giovanni Giacometti. Sotheby's indicated that bidding was brisk due to the strong demand for quality works of impressionist and modern art. Other works that sold...

Photographer Joseph Conti has joined DiscoverOriginalArt. Below Joseph describes his techniques.
The thing had some heft to it when held in the hand. Every knob or latch, when manipulated had that crisp, mechanical feel and sound and it produced an image just as precise. But that was roughly 30 years ago. It was a Minolta 35mm SLR. It was a prized possession and an outlet for my creative instincts. I had barely mastered the basics of film photography when the digital age arrived. Uncharted waters, but not for long. What an opportunity, once realized. A boon to anyone with an urge to experiment and a budget that didn’t include endless rolls of film, developing or a darkroom. In the end the basics remained the same. Your eye and your hand control the outcome. But for this particular group a precision...

 Thomas Keller Angel of Egypt
Artist Thomas Keller began creating art as the result of an spiritual awakening in 2001. Prior to that time he was a construction contractor and has continued to be so. When he began painting he felt like a river of creativity was flooding through him and had to be released.
Thomas Keller's paintings are mostly pastels, a medium he was drawn to naturally. Thousands of crystals of pure color comprise pastels so a painting is a crystal field reflecting light.
He then was drawn to free sculpt...

 In Dreamland
Beata Belansky Demko has joined Discover Original Art. She is a self-taught artist who resides in Hungary. We are impressed with the texture and subject matter of her paintings. They are introspective and reflective. In the last year she has spent her time painting her emotions, experiences, and feelings.
Beata says, "One thing drives me, to live the inner silence. Greater silence or peace - before taking a paintbrush - I had never experienced. So my paintings can be considered as byproducts of seeking my inner peace. I have no intention with my paintings. I don't want to make other people happy, change the world or create something beautiful and good. I just want to find myself... inside."
