How Does This Work for the Artist???
An online art gallery has the potential to reach thousands and thousands of people from all over the world. Discover Original Art is dedicated to providing you, the artist, with a forum worthy of your art. Presenting and selling your art at Discover Original Art is an easy process that is completely guaranteed. You list your artwork on our safe, secure online system and we handle the credit card costs and transactions! Simply follow the steps!
First, Sign up for representation on the website. On completion of sign up you will be presented with the “Artist Agreement” that you are are requested to read and follow the instructions for completion and acceptance.
With the “Artist’s Agreement,” there is an attachment that will provide you space to list the art you want to sell, a special code, the medium, the size, and the price. Any other pertinent information should be included. Photographers should also send the edition size and print number and medium.
- Once your agreement is signed, you will send photographs (see “Photographing and Submitting Your Artwork”) of the artwork in a .jpg format (minimum of 1800 pixels in the long dimension) via email (up to three images at a time) or you can send a memory stick, flash card or dvd which we will return to you after downloading the photographs.
- Send us a biography and a picture of yourself. Please make the bio as detailed as possible and the photo the highest quality. These can enhance the buyer’s interest in your work. The more interesting and detailed the bio, the more engaged the collector will be. Consider it your personal interview with a potential collector.
- Discover Original Art reviews the images of your artwork and decides if it is a “good fit” for our website. If we accept your artwork, we will place your artwork, your biography and photo on our website.
- Buyers will peruse the site and select the artwork they wish to purchase.
- Once a buyer purchases a piece of artwork, you will be notified immediately. As soon as the purchase is cleared, you must package your artwork and send it to the buyer. Insure the artwork for its full value. (Please see “Shipping” page on this site.) The artist is responsible for the shipping costs and the insurance.
- You will send the tracking number to tracking@discoveroriginalart.com and we will notify the buyers of the number so they can anticipate the arrival of the artwork.
- Once the buyer receives the artwork, the buyer has seven days to examine it. After the buyer decides to keep the artwork, payment will immediately be made to the artist. We charge 20% commission and this will be deducted.
- The artist pays the sales tax.
- If the buyer chooses to return the artwork within the seven-day period, the buyer must contact Discover Original Art and receive return instructions. The buyer is responsible for shipping the artwork back to the artist and is responsible for the cost of shipping and insurance. Once the artist has received the artwork and has examined it for any possible damage, the buyer will be refunded the full amount of the purchase price. The Artist will be refunded the original shipping cost.
- Discover Original Art reserves the right to list only the art that we think reflects Discover Original Art’s standards. Your artwork will be reviewed by experienced critics and mentors prior to being accepted. You will be notified of acceptance to our site within 10 (ten) days.
